Family Resource Center

NFI Family Resource Center

Family Resource Center (FRC) for the Greater Lowell Area is a drop in resource center for youth and their families to assist with connections to needed supports, services and resources in the community.

The FRC is part of the CHINS Reform Act of 2012

Location of the FRC will be 27 Prescott Street, Lowell and hoping for a April opening (pending building remodeling)

Assistance obtained at the FRC are free and no referral is needed

Participation is voluntary – cannot be mandated or reported (confidential) NFI is partnering with Mental Health Associates of Greater Lowell to provide a clinician and Family Partner

If needed, the FRC clinician can connect the youth to clinical services at MHAGL within 24 hours

The FRC clinician will conduct an initial assessment, using the CANS to evaluate the needs and strengths of the youth/family

If mental health supports are needed referrals will be made by the FRC staff to the CSA and other CBHI providers

FRC staff can also assist with basic needs, and connection to substance abuse services

FRC will also be offering a parent and grandparent support groups, GED classes, cultural events, ESL classes

FCR will be open 40 hours a week, 2 days 9-5/8-5, 3 days 12-8/1-9 and every other Saturday

Goal is to help 1000 youth/families in one year.

Will be partnering with the courts to divert from the CRA or connect to the CRA process if needed

NFI is looking to engage in partnerships with various community and mental health providers to assist with meeting the needs of the community
