Dear Families of Greater Lowell Pediatrics,
First of all we hope you are all doing well. Our thoughts are with you and we are here to help.
Greater Lowell Pediatrics would like to update you about what we are doing to address concerns about the coronavirus. As with all of you we are trying to make the safest decisions regarding your health as this virus rapidly spreads. We are constantly being updated from the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Greater Lowell Pediatrics is currently open but with changing hours depending on the demand for visits. At present the office in Lowell is open 8 AM to 5 PM if there is demand. The Westford office is open 8 AM to 3PM. Both locations are seeing well visits in the morning and sick visits in the afternoon. Cleaning is on going with more extensive cleaning at lunch time. In addition the sick visits are separated by space and providers in the office. Thank you for understanding this changing schedule, it is for your safety.
We are currently screening all patients for risk of corona virus both on the phone and in person. The information we gather will allow us to make the safest recommendations for you. A member from our staff will be waiting to assist patients who need to enter from a different area of our office. If you or your child has a fever or cough, please call the office ahead of your visit. PLEASE DO NOT COME TO ANY OF OUR TWO LOCATIONS SEEKING TO BE TESTED FOR COVID-19, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE SYMPTOM FREE REGARDLESS IF YOU THINK YOU MAY HAVE BEEN EXPOSED. Please call ahead to our office and you will be appropriately advised on next steps. If you have a mask at home please wear it to the office as all healthcare facilities are facing a shortage crisis on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
As an added precaution, we are taking additional measures to assure that our waiting rooms and clinical areas are disinfected thus prompting removal of any toys, reading material and stickers. We are also asking to please minimize the number of people you bring to your visit. The corona virus is particularly serious for the elderly and anyone immune compromised, so please be thoughtful about who you bring to the appointment. We ask that only one person accompany the patient to the appointment, if you have someone drive you please have them wait in the car.
We are faced with some stressful weeks or even months ahead. Our focus is on the safety of our patients, staff and ultimately the public health. We want to reassure our patients and families that we will do everything possible to support you through this state of emergency.
You may be contacted by our staff to sign you up for MyChart patient portal. You can also contact us to sign you up for MyChart. This effort is our way of keeping in touch with you. MyChart allows us to push out messages about the office as well as offer virtual visits for some problems. The virtual visits will be offered during regular office hours. Please call to find out more.
As always when the office is closed you will be able to speak with a provider on call
Please check out the resources we have available here regarding Corona virus.
As always be safe, practice social distancing and wash your hands.
